Re: Percent of paycheck to childcare?
Since I am a contractor my income greatly varies, but last year I averaged 25% of my gross income or about 35% net I think. This year may be worse even though our costs went down tremendously. I think it would be around 40 or 45% because we have had a crappy year. I don't want to give up my nights and weekends with my family to be able to not have childcare and even if I did I wouldn't make as much.

Re: Percent of paycheck to childcare?
Right now it is about 13% of our income (DH and mine combined). We're expecting #2 in November and will be up to 25% of our income come January. Though, I am hoping my husband's contract work turns into full time work by then and he will get a raise.

Re: Percent of paycheck to childcare?
for one in home daycare and one b/a school care, about 40% of my gross income/45% of net income or about 22% of our gross family income/25% net family.
It is frustrating spending almost half my paycheque on childcare so I can work :S but we need that other 55% to pay the essentials...

Right now we're not paying anything because my parents watch mine, but when they start next month it will be 90% of my pay. It will be 60% of our family income. I wish I could SAHM but I carry the insurance for our family so I can't..

Re: Percent of paycheck to childcare?
We spend about 15% of our combined income on private school for our 3 kids. We don't need childcare outside of that because I work overnights 7p-7a. I don't know that you can count that 15% though because we were making the choice to send the kids to private school even before I was working.

I get paid $500 per week and spend $75 on chilcare for three days each week. So less than 20%. My mom watches her the other two days for free
