had a great appointment finally!

After several crappy midwives at my practice I've been lucky enough to have the same wonderful midwife the past several appointments. DF and I both like her so much we asked if it would be possible to have her attend our birth, even if we had topay out of pocket for it. She was so flattered and happy! I really think we made her day Thankfully we don't have to do that, she said she'd be happy to "special" me as long as she was available, seeing as she has a 3 year old and her partner is in the medical field too. Luckily she is the oncall midwife more often than not so we have a good chance.

After that we got to talking about my birth plan and the hospitals policies. I liked my hospital well enough, but they've implemented some new policies that I love! They have birthing balls andyou can take them in the shower, they will NOT allow inductions before 41 weeks barring medical emergencies, they prefer to have you do skin to skin immediately following delivery, and they do not suction baby when their head comes out. Delayed clamping also will not be a problem! And this is at a high risk, level 3 NICU hospital!

I really want this birth to be better than my last. Not that Tommy's was bad, it just wasn't what I wanted. Hopefully having a supportive midwife and knowing what to expect in addition to some awesome policies will allow that to happen!
