I think alva bamboo is GREAT for laying on top. Super trim, super absorbant, and super inexpensive. But really, you can lay in anything that isnt microfiber. You could also sew some fleece onto the top of your microfiber inserts so it could touch baby's skin.

......you should see what my posts look like BEFORE auto correct.

This! Economical and you can use prefolds so many ways!! This is what we use for pocket or in covers Great system easy to clean, no worries...

And yep I got tired of stuffing too, I bought AIO's and used them exclusively for about 6 months then I missed all my fun prints (ALva, Sunbaby). So started throwing a few pockets in here and there now I don't mind the laundry mix it as much.

We use these too and really like them but you will eventually need two inserts per diaper... At least most people do (1 is ok for newborns).

I will definitely try these suggestions. anything that keeps me from spending hours shoving microfiber into pockets maybe just thinking of them as shells like someone mentioned and finding inserts/liners that wont be too big for them. I totally forgot about alva bamboo inserts. that should be inexpensive to at least try... thanks again
