Soaker material?
I have a pattern to convert prefolds into fitteds and want to make some. I would like to add at least one layer of some other absorbent material to the diaper as the pattern has you add a layer over the prefold - probably more for asthetic purposes, but I figured it was an opportunity to add absorbency as well.
I know that bamboo and hemp are popular for their absorbency, but I was just wondering what type of material you would recommend. A velour or something different? This will be the second diaper I'm making so opinions and advice are apprecaited!

Re: Soaker material?
I think it depends on your preference & what you want against baby's skin.
Hemp is great b/c of it's natural antimicrobial properties, but it can get stinky after a while of use. I like bamboo a lot, especially bamboo velour, but IMO bamboo tends to wear out faster. I like cotton velour for it's durability & the way the soft part lasts longer than other brands. GL. |
