Re: How do you deal with afterbirth pains?
I was dreading the after pains with #5 since I thought they would kill me after #4 but I ended up having Methergine for some retained clots and it seemed to cut down on the intensity of the after pains as well, I guess because my uterus was about as contracted as it could be. Other than that I also took Ibuprofen and Tylenol around the clock.

Re: How do you deal with afterbirth pains?
I didn't have any with DS1, and they were AWFUL with DS2. I didn't take anything since I was breastfeeding and didn't want that in his system. I treated it a lot like labor. I had my mom and DH squeeze my hips, I'd do breathing techniques, ect. It was hard but I got through it.

Re: How do you deal with afterbirth pains?
Definitely a lot worse with the second! I don't even remember them with my first, but like another poster, I felt like I was in labor again, but I already had the baby! ugh. I just took tylenol, but it lasted about 5 days for me.

Re: How do you deal with afterbirth pains?
I agree that it is worse after each subsequent labor, but with number 4 I took W5 from natures sunshine to help with labor and I didn't have any noticeable after birth pain. alot like my first pregnancy. I don't know it that had anything to do with it though. Also I took RRLT and EPO.

Re: How do you deal with afterbirth pains?
You know I had a lot after my first but I really don't remember them after my second. They hurt for sure but I don't remember it being really awful or anything. I did take the Ibuprofen for a couple days every 6 hours.

Re: How do you deal with afterbirth pains?
With #3 they were as bad or worse than some of my worst contractions. Definetly ibuprophen around the clock for the first few days. I'm not even pregnant yet but dreading how much worse they could be with #4

Re: How do you deal with afterbirth pains?
Yes and No. I think they are preventable!!!
With #2 they were bad, with #3 they were HORRIBLE, I had to bite socks while nursing the pain was SO bad. 800mg Motrin didn't even TOUCH it, and Norco just made me constipated and tired! With #4, I drank RRL tea and pregnancy tea all.day.long!!! During the third trimester I drank 3rd Trimester tea from Earth Mama Angel Baby. Plus my RRL and Pregnancy tea. I literally had light cramps for 2 days after her birth, but I didn't need any pain meds at all.

Re: How do you deal with afterbirth pains?
I really like Afterease it's made by Wishgarden and it helped me a lot. Honestly I have found they are tougher with each subsequent pregnancy but thankfully only last 2-3 days. I also would breath throug and just try to relax and treat them like birthing contractions which helped quite a bit.

Mine brought me to tears with my first - worse than labor. They weren't so bad with my second. I'm not sure what the difference was.
