Re: Chicken Pox Vaccine Questions

I agree with calling your pediatrician to be sure. But, I am not aware of any harm that comes from not completing a vaccination series. Honestly, there are millions of undervaccinated people in this country alone. When researchers investigate VPD occurrences, they classify them by vaccinated, unvaccinated and undervaccinated.

Either your LO gained immunity from the first round or didn't or might have a partial ability to better fight off any chickenpox that they encounter late in life. But, as far as harm from not finishing, I don't know of any. Take that for what it's worth - I am not a epidemiologist though I sometimes play one on DS.

Re: Chicken Pox Vaccine Questions

From my understanding there is no harm in not finishing the second dose. But you might not have full immunity. After my first dose my titre was at .8, and 1 is immune. So I was almost immune, but not quite.

Re: Chicken Pox Vaccine Questions

Yes. I've seen kids get the chicken pox even after the vaccine.

I've RARELY heard of kids getting it FROM the vaccine. But, the last person who told me about it, actually got her son vaccinated after he was already exposed....so, I don't know if it was in spite of the vaccine, or because of the vaccine.

None of the kids who got chicken pox later (after the vaccine) had a bad case of it, and none of them had any issues because of it.

Re: Chicken Pox Vaccine Questions

My 2 year old MAY have CP right now. However, if it is CP (we aren't planning on going to the doctor) it is a very mild case with only 10-15 spots on his chest and a few on his face. He is fully vaxed.
