Re: dishwasher detergent?

I have 2 that I have tried and they both worked equally well.

1 c. Arm and Hammer washing soda
1 c. Borax
Use 2 T. per load

1 C. Arm and Hammer baking soda
1 C. Borax
again, 2 T. per load

I put a little more in if really dirty, but I usually rinse most of the gooey stuff off.

I put vinegar in the rinse agent tray.

I used 1 cup Borax
1 cup baking soda
1/4 cup salt
1/4 cup citric acid (lemi-shine) or 2 Kool-aid packets lemonade unsweetened
2 tbs per load works great

Not a true recipe but Charlies recommends using 1 tsp of the pwd laundry det and 1 tps of the laundry booster in you dishwasher. I will be trying this soon.

Re: dishwasher detergent?

I just tried this one. Instead of the lemonaide packets, I used 1/4 cup of Fruit Fresh for my citric acid and I use vinegar as a rinse aide. So far it seems to be working.

I did this and after a while my dishes got filmy ... So now I use this recipe with 1 cup powder cascade added and they come out perfect! I mix it in my food processor to mix it really well!

Dang it!! Washing soda and Borax - are they really safe for dishes? I know both have warnings about not ingesting them (although I'm sure Cascade does too). I'm probably just being paranoid...
