Co-ops -- Tipping the host?

I was just reading a thread on another site about tipping a co-op host. There were different opinions, so I decided that I'd ask here, since this is where I'm doing my first co-op.

Do you usually tip the host? How much do you tip? Is it a percentage or a set amount? So far it's been a great experience -- great communication, answering all my dumb newbie questions, etc. If it's customary or even just a nice way to say thank you, I'd like to do it.

I have never heard of this. The co-op hosts here are volunteers who don't make any money, so while it would probably be appreciated, I don't *think* it's allowed.

I just thought it might be awkward.
Is there another nice way to say thank you?

I've tipped co-op hosts here before.

I've been in heaps of coops and never tipped. Never even thought to. I just try my hardest to make the hostesses life easy: trying to find andwers on my own, making as few changes as possible, paying on time, etc. Hopefully I'm not coming off as a big mean jerk.

I think it's allowed. Some people do, some don't, pretty sure it's up to you.

I was just thinking about this the other day. I don't know if it is allowed on here but I think 25% of what you are saving would be appropriate. So say you would normally pay $10 for a dipe and they are getting it for $8 I would do 25% of $2 which is .50. Hope that's not to much math and makes sense.

That's reasonable, but in my case, it's such a small amount that it would almost be insulting. KWIM? I guess if everyone tipped, it would come out to a small, but decent amount.

I've tipped coop host several times and I try to do 10% of my order.
