FTR: My Dad is more than a decade older than my Mom and his generation just did things differently. He has a good heart but some of the stuff he suggests makes me wonder how in the world he raised 7 children into adulthood!
You must be southern. when I read or hear "bless his/her heart" I always hear in my head "what is wrong with you????"

Re: My MIL Just Tried...

DS1 was maybe 1 1/2 and we all went to costco together and got iced coffees. DS was in the cart and MIL had her coffee in her hand, kind of pushing the cart at the same time, not paying attention and chatting with SIL, and me and DH look over and go "Oh, no! He's drinking your coffee!" She just said "Oh I know, that's ok, I'm letting him."

Me and DH were kind of shocked at the time, but now we just kind of laugh about it. She's just sort of flaky, I know she didn't mean harm.

Cake is flour and sugar. Ice cream is milk and sugar. Mt. Dew is high fructose corn syrup with yellow #5.
Tootttally rather give my kids cake and ice cream.

Forget the pork chops, when my kids are teething my mom tries to give them the bone from a steak! Like a T-bone to chew on!!

Also yes things like cake frosting and ice cream.

I usually just take my baby's, and leave

What is even remotely bad about giving a baby homemade bread? That sounds a bit over the top.

Unless you made the cake and icecream yourself you might be shocked to see the list of ingredients on most commercial cakes and icecreams.

Also, at an appropriate age, I tend to think steak bones are good teething ideas

Shoot... Ribs are a common BLW first food. From what I've read anyways.

Mtn Dew isn't going in me at all. Certainly not in my kids. But DD does know what cake is
