Re: Rubberband for discipline?

Totally off topic, but Connor, you give pitching lessons? I've never met another person who was in that business! We own a baseball facility 12 instructors who do daily lessons and 8 travel ball teams.

I wouldn't do it but if it doesn't leave a mark some states won't consider it abuse.

I used to date a girl who snapped a rubberband instead of cutting herself.

Yes, my Dad and I. We teach fastpitch softball

We have about 40-50 girls that come weekly Where are you located.

The rubberband definitely sounds abusive to me as well!! And I definitely think it would leave a mark(s).

As I was scrolling down in my tired state I thought I read rhubarb for discipline. I guess I need some sleep.

I wouldn't do this to my child.

Re: Rubberband for discipline?

Never heard of it. I don't like the idea for general discipline. It seems like having them wear the rubber band would send the message that you are just waiting for them to mess up. I can see that it would be effective for a specific behavior over a short term, I don't have any objections to it being used that way. I think I will suggest it to my oldest dd, who is having trouble breaking a nail biting habit. She doesn't seem to realize when she is doing it, but gets so frustrated with herself when I say "stop biting!". Maybe a snap on her wrist each time would help.

Wow, I've never heard of using it on a child! I've heard of people using it on themselves, but hey, what you do to yourself is up to you- I can't imagine using it on a child though!
