I want to give you a big hug! It will get easier very soon! Take it one feeding at a time. Make sure you are using lanolin after every feeding, take ibuprofen, make a point to spend the day in bed resting and nursing. The LC can help her latch, but for me I had some pain when latching for about 2 weeks even though I had nursed DD1 for over a year and DD2 had a very good latch....I would say a prayer to help me through.

Re: I cant do this, overwhelmed
hugs mama. I am a PCOS mama of 2. I had a lot of difficulty getting my milk supply in and producing enough. However, PCOS ers can have normal supplies and over supplies too. If you find yourself not producing or struggling to get milk in Fenugreek capsules I took 3-4 tablets 3 times a day and goats rue 2 times a day. For my second son I pumped 15minutes after every feed around the clock for the first month. By 6 weeks we had finally made it to 3 ounces transferred at a morning feed. THis was a huge accomplishment for us.
With my first I learned that I needed lots of water and attempts to rest. My stress and lack of sleep interfered with the supply. After a nursing session maybe send the baby for a walk with dh or a friend and try to nap. Of course weather permitting.

Re: I cant do this, overwhelmed
i don't have anything much to add that hasn't been said, but i just wanted to add another voice telling you that you're doing great! nothing you've said sounds out of the ordinary for a baby that age. at all. for the first week, it's supposed to be 1 wet diaper per day of life. so at day 4, it should be 4 wet diapers. also, some bf'd babies just don't poop that often. my 9 week old only pooped a couple times that whole first week, and like once a week after that. i was super concerned about it, cause my first pooped a lot more often, but the pediatrician was unconcerned as long as she was continuing to gain.....so don't worry so much about the poopy diapers. and it sounds like she's having just the right amount of wet diapers. your milk should be coming in soon, sometimes it takes awhile. and, for me, no matter how many times i had my latch checked, and even after nursing ds for 11 months, i STILL had a fair amount of pain for the first several weeks with the newbie. i dunno why it lasted so long for me. it happened with both babies and i was repeatedly told that my latch was fine. but eventually the pain went away and nursing was so so much better.
it's always a shock with the first baby how often they nurse. and even with this one, it was difficult and stressful because she nursed all.the.time for the first 6 weeks or so. don't expect anything else. in fact, only nursing for 15 minutes is a pretty fast nursing session. both my kids would go about an hour at a nursing session before they were satisfied and then an hour or so later they'd be ready for another go, if not sooner. if she's satisfied after 15 minutes, then i think that means she is getting plenty! you are doing so great! and you're doing everything right! just stick with it, it will get sooo much easier the older the baby gets

You already received great advice, so I just wanted to encourage you! You're doing great, and it WILL get better. I was in your position six weeks ago and felt like it would never get better but it did!

Re: I cant do this, overwhelmed
Just wanted to chime in and say that my first was a completely fast, all natural birth, and it still took 5 days for my milk to come in. She was born Friday and my milk came in on Tuesday. She also nursed ALL OF THE TIME and for 45 minutes at a time. This will pass. Take everyone else's advice and try to relax!

Re: I cant do this, overwhelmed
You are doing great mama! Good to hear you have local help to reach out to. Those first days can be sooooo overwhelming! Great big hugs to you
.And I am one with milk coming in late. Not until well into day 5 with both boys. DS1 had some supplements those first days (a whole other story and nearly sabatoged my nursing), but I wised up and did not supplement DS2 at all. He was a mighty pissed off baby by day 5, but he survived and ending up gaining almost 3lbs by his 1 month appointment. Hang in there mama, you can do this!

So first of all thank you for your support and kind words, I never thought it could be so hard to breastfeed no wonder people give up. Anyways our pediatrician is great she is super pro breast only and never once mentioned formula as an option. She worked with me for about 45min on terras latch which is starting to get better she wants us to come back on Thursday so she can check on the latch and her weight. Apparently little miss had such a bad latch my body wasn't getting the signal that it's time to let my milk in but now with the better latch my milk has come in. In fact we went 3hrs between sessions last night so I got a little sleep! I didn't realize how painful engorgement is but dang my boobs are killing me... Even after terra nursed to her hearts content this morning I still pumped almost 2ozs to start my freezer supply!
Seriously thank y'all so much!
