This could totally be me..
I'm new to buying used items over the internet, and I'm not sure if my expectations were unrealistic.
I bought two dozen GMD yellow edge prefolds on FSOT for $40 plus $10 shipping. The seller has deleted the post text and pictures, and I didn't quote the post anywhere so I don't have a record of exactly what was said. I'm sure that they were described as GUC at least. The picture was of all the diapers in a stack, and I assumed that they were all in similar condition. I would not have purchased if I had known the staining was this significant. I'm not going to dispute anything because I didn't keep good records in my moment of impulse buying. I just don't want to be a jerk on feedback if I'm in the wrong. **okay... Pictures only showing up if yup click on the "?" box. Huh.

Re: This could totally be me..
I can't see pics, but around here GUC generally means they're pretty worn. EUC means they're next to new, few (if any issues), VGUC means has some issues but in great working order, and GUC usually means they need some TLC or are functional but NOT nice looking. If they're stained and having issues that means GUC to me. In the future, just be sure to ask lots of questions and request more pictures if you're unsure. That's a bummer though mama.

I would contact a mod, mama. They can see edits in threads as far as I know, so they should be able to yell you what her original listing was. And then you can decide where to go from there in terms of dispute, asking for a partial refund, or feedback.
ETA: Everyone has a different idea of what vguc/euc/guc/etc means. Always make sure to ask details if they aren't given. What may be gold standard condition to one person could be nearly unusable to another kwim? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using DS Forum

Re: This could totally be me..
GUC is a subjective term... to me, it means the item probably has some wear (such as staining), but is still functional. To someone else, it could mean something entirely different. Judging by those pictures, I would say those are GUC. Did you see pictures or ask for detailed descriptions before buying? I never buy anything without pics and detailed descriptions... terms like EUC, VGUC, and GUC mean absolutely nothing to me, because as I said, they are subjective.

![]() OP if you're unsure if the staining and such was mentioned, I would definitely contact a mod. If it was, it would be unfair IMO to leave FB that is less than, simply because you didn't ask for other details or pictures. But if it said no staining or something like, staining on 2 or whatever, whether or not you asked for pics would be kind of negated by the misrepresentation. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using DS Forum

Consensus seems to be that the fault is on my end. Everything I've bought on FSOT has been in such amazing condition that I got lazy in my shopping process.
Thanks for the feedback; I really didn't want to be a jerk. (Since this is all good now, should I ask a mod to delete this thread?)

to what you said . I also hate when sellers only use the EUC/VGUC/GUC terms... especially if there is staining or other wear. And my personal favorite, EEEEUC. What does that even mean?

Re: This could totally be me..
Stains are an issue that need to be disclosed by the seller.Period.
If stains are not mentioned, then there should be none on the item. Should a buyer ask about stains? Probably. Ultimately it is the seller who must accurately describe the items they are offering for sale and offer pictures if there are issues. I can access the edits for you in the orig thread to see if she disclosed condition. |
