I'm so sorry about your dog. Our dog broke one of his legs in the same place. We opted not to do surgery, and just confined him for a while, and he healed very well. He has had no lasting effects. Obviously I'm no vet and your dog's breaks may be different or worse, but just wanted to give you a word of encouragement.

I greatly appreciate the words of encouragement! He had compound fractures in both hind legs, with multiple bone chips so rest only wasn't an option. It's very reassuring to hear of dogs bouncing back from similar injuries though.

Sending you loving thoughts. One of our Eng. Mastiffs tore both ACL's and needed surgery on both legs and hips. Unfortunately BIG dogs equal BIG bills! $10K later we never regretted our decision for a second. Our sweet Boo passed last year, she was a part of our family. PM if you need a shoulder to cry on..
