Re: Ivy's rather odd birth story!

Wow!! Congrats! Sorry you didn't get to do it at home but it sounds like God had you just where He wanted you!!
Birth is a funny thing... So amazing and miraculous even when it's not the same as our hopes. Glad you are well and enjoying your newest blessing!

Congratulations!! I really needed to read the end of your story where you talk about acceptance and surrender....and wishing you could go back and do it again with more joy. My labor/birth last month did NOT go at all according to plan and we also had a NICU stay on top of it all and I've really struggled with it emotionally. It's good to see you writing thoughts that are so close to mine that I couldn't put into words. Again, congratulations on your newest little blessing!

Re: Ivy's rather odd birth story!

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

Lora-
It is true... it takes time to process, doesn't it? I think the more we talk and share the better we process birth. Then we can move forward and let it go. Bonding with our babies, also, isn't a one-time thing. We do it every day, forever, and the birth, though ever-so-important, is only the beginning. And breastfeeding is SO healing. The hormones just seal us to our babies.

LOL- if that makes any sense!

Re: Ivy's rather odd birth story!

Congrats! She is so sweet! And has HAIR! Mine are baldies, hehe.
I had my second en route, lol.
I felt sort of that way after the birth of my 3rd child. It was a super fast labor and though I handled it super calmly--midwife had to ask me if I was in transition, ect.--I remember feeling shell shocked emotionally afterwards...everyone kept saying what an amazing birth it was and how I handled it so well. I think I was too much in the midst of it to notice. My last birth was super peaceful to me. Hoping for that again this time around.
