Another car buying thread-Updated!

It was a very different process since the last time I brought new. At one point my dh told them I was going to go take a break with the kids. They gave us the same exact car we were buying. Total sales ploy so you fall in love with the car.

We drove it next door and poked around it some more. Lol. Went over the list on the sticker which had it priced at close to 19,000. Read the manual etc. It was slippery inside because everything was still covered in all the plastic.

Last time I bought new it was like you described. You test drove one showroom model and then you agreed and they placed the order for yours.

I agree with CD, they don't do this anymore unfortunately. If they "demo" a car like that it's normally for an employee to purchase for a discount, it's still sold as new though and not used. My pastor was an executive for General Motors and he was given a new car to drive every 60 days, these cars were for employees that were buying them on discount but he had to put "x" number of miles on it during the 60 days he drove it.

Thanks everyone. Needing a car unexpectedly was a bitter pill to swallow but the advice I got from here really helped. I was in panic mode because dh needs it for work and his break is almost over.
