FIAR q
Just a quick question about the Five in a Row material: Do you have to do the volumes in order? Like, is volume one more suitable for grade one, volume four more advanced?
Can anyone tell me more about this material? Where do you get the "Fold&Learns"?

Re: FIAR q
You do not have to do them in order....
I have some FIAR resources on my blog and Pinterest boards, and will have more as the year goes on...

There are also alot of resources here:
http://www.homeschoolshare.com/five_..._resources.php Here is a great blog of a family that uses FIAR, she often provides links to sites as well: http://delightfullearning.blogspot.com/ Hope this helps a litttle. Good luck on your homeschooling journey this year. Last edited by Mysweetseven; 08-08-2012 at 05:37 AM. |

Re: FIAR q
Thanks Mamas! My neighbor homeschools and mentioned that she would be using FIAR for her younger two schoolers. I was pretty sold on Amanda Bennett Unit Studies, but worried that we'd run out of topics that interested us sooner than Ms. Bennett could publish more. So... FIAR might be what we blend in with our topical/seasonal unit studies from AB that I've already purchased to fill out the year and provide more variety.
Now to figure out how to get my 5yo DS to write words on paper.....

Re: FIAR q
No the books don't have to be done in any order. I have actually found that for the beginning I like many of the books out of Vol. 2, but I mostly chose books based on what is going on in our life, the season, or something DD is interested in.
For example when we started our garden, our book for the week was The Tale of Peter Rabbit. I really like FIAR because it's very flexible and I can adjust it to fit our needs. DD is only in K so I don't try to do to much, like the lapbooks, but I may add them in the future. |
