Nope. I rarely have issues with my kids. I did spank my older girls a few times as toddlers (they are 14/15) and I vowed never to do it again. We take away stuff if they get out of hand but its so rare.

If they quarrel we separate them for a few minutes and have them apologize when they are ready. Works good for us.

Nope! Spanking of any shape or form is NOT allowed in our home. We teach our children that hands are not for hitting...but for loving and touching softly. I have a friend who does spank and her child is always slapping and hitting my kids...she is very physically agressive to solve any problem she has...my own 4 yr old little girl is constantly trying to teach this other child that she needs to stop hitting...that it is not nice etc. So frustrating for us all.

My kids are all well behaved with the normal bad behavior/poor choices common to all kiddos....I have teenagers too...I get compliments all the time about how great my kids are...including my teenagers! It is hard to not spank, you really have to be a thinking parent...and have to get creative with your discipline. I even keep a printed list inside a cabinet of all the reasons we don't spank along with helpful discipline pointers to keep me fresh in the moment.

I do only when necessary. My DH was abused also so he doesn't like to at all for the same reasons add OP. I prefer taking things away or time outs. So I do it sparingly, and no more than my hand. Anything else I would consider abuse.

Your story made me so sad how awful for those little kids. I have spanked my children but never at that age. I can't imagine hitting a Baby Even sadder that this was a bible study where the love of Christ should be shown. Sigh. Now I'm sad.

Edit to say that spanking isn't our form of discipline ... Yes it has happened but we don't always resort to that and never to little kids who don't understand.

I do NOT spank. But, I DO think it's a parenting choice, and I have no problem with others spanking.

It just never felt right for me. I always thought I would spank, but then, when I had a child, I couldn't even dream of it.

However, she was an easy kid. (now she's a pain in the neck)

I Would have a problem with this. The child was already warned, I would not had given another warning. I require first time obedience. I don't give multiple chances. I would have put her in time out right then since she disobeyed the first warning.

I've never spanked, but I slapped my daughter's hand once and will never do it again because it made me sick to see the look on my lovely girl's face. We have plenty of discipline tools, the big one just being diligent guidance, that I'd rather do those than feel that feeling again.

we do, but I try to do it less and less...it really doesn't work well, but it's a difficult habit to break. I am grasping at straws to find an alternative. My 4yo has a HORRIBLE attitude with me. He's an angel for everyone else. I'm at my wit's end with him.
