Which Fleece for Leak-free covers?
I see various answers on this ... that any fleece is fine, that you should only use Malden Mills Windpro 200wt or more ... Does Joann's carry anything appropriate?
Actually I'm looking to make trainers out of the Katrina fleece soaker pattern, adding absorbent material instead of an extra soaker layer. But they need to be very leakproof for daycare to use them. I've never sewn diapers at all, so any tips are greatly appreciated. TIA! |

Re: Which Fleece for Leak-free covers?
Anti-pill from joAnns is okay but you definitely need to have at least 2 layers. If you use 3 layers, I would consider them day-care proof
![]() 200 wt Windpro is nice because it will be thinner but still quite wet-resistant. It's comparable to 2 layers of anti-pill

Re: Which Fleece for Leak-free covers?
Wow. Maybe I need to reconsider fleece, and go back to PUL. Sounds like they'll be super bulky?

Re: Which Fleece for Leak-free covers?
They are bulkier. I use a 2-layer for night time with a ton of inserts. I don't like them for day time.

Re: Which Fleece for Leak-free covers?
Fleece is definitely bulkier than PUL. We can't use PUL, though, because it gives my son rashes. I've embraced the bulk
But if you go with the Windpro it will not be as bulky. Windpro is much pricier, though; if you can buy it locally that's awesome, but otherwise it's available online.ETA --> If you use a single layer of fleece for the outer, then use PUL in the wet-zone, it should still breathe, be very bulletproof in the part that get wettest (wet-zone) and not be as bulky. I think that might be a good compromise.

Re: Which Fleece for Leak-free covers?
Hmm. Fleece seemed like it'd be super easy to sew but I guess I'll go back to my original plan ... use the Darling Diapers or similar pattern, and PUL. I also just saw great prices locally on coated nylon, like gDiapers have, which worked well for us. I'd hide it between a few layers of fabric though. Daycare lets him run loose without pants and he's killing diapers that way.
