Newborn carrier and warm weather?

I am looking for a carrier that can hold a newborn and is maybe light wieght and/ or mesh for hot weather. I like the EGRO Perfomance for an older baby. I am having a hard time finding one for newborn that will be good in the heat (Baby is due in June). Any suggestions?

Re: Newborn carrier and warm weather?

I love single layer linen ring slings for little babies in the heat. Nothing is cooler and an RS can be used with even the littlest newborn. Sakura Bloom linen is my favorite but SBP linen slings are nice too and cost a bit less.

My second baby is also due in June, and I bought him or her a a Sakura Bloom Pixie linen RS, and for an SSC an infant Kinderpack with a solarveil panel. Hope that helps.

I haven't used mine yet (I'm due in 1 week) but I just bought a Wrapsody Bali Stretch Wrap. It is supposed to be great, not only for newborns, but for hot weather as well. Plus, it isn't as expensive as some other wraps in case you decide wrapping isn't or you. I live in Memphis and it gets very, very hot here in summer!

Sure there are lots of options. An infant ssc with cool knit or solar veil would be great if your sticking with a structured type of carrier. Vatani woven wraps are loved for there summer time thinness. A linen ring sling is another good option. Lots of stuff to look at on thebabywearer foster forum.

Re: Newborn carrier and warm weather?

I may be repeating what others have here, but a the Kinderpack with koolnit in the backpanel allows for airflow if looking ofr a SSC (soft structured carrier). They have four different sizes, but if you're looking for a newborn they have an infant size that goes from 8 lbs and up to 30", so about newborn to 18 months. I like a light toddler worthy cotton ring sling like a vatani or ellevill zara. Contact a woven wrap retailer and they may be able to give you a short list of strong wovens that are breathable.

I use a mesh sling that's the best when it's hot and make sure you put light clothes on baby.

Do you have recs for a good mesh sling? I'm also due this summer (in July) and have found a few nice mesh slings but Google isn't showing me any reviews.
