Homestead Emporium are the only pads I can use - they're 17" long.

I have some postpartum pads from Tallulah Bean that I really love. I have fibroids and also have really heavy periods. These have worked great for me. I also don't think that making them is a bad idea. I wanted to make some but just couldn't find the time. Sewing is not my favorite pastime though
I hope you can find something you can love regardless!

Re: Mama cloth that will work for me?
These are my 12" and one of my smaller ones. I use BV on top, vary the inside between layers of MF, old flannel, bamboo
![]() Here are the backs ![]() ![]() ![]() On the large one the snap is built in prior to assembly. On anything smaller I did it "after market". Finished putting the wings on then added that back snap. I bought a pack of hanes undies in the correct size and added a snap to them like so ![]() Those pads don't move unless the front or back wiggles a little. I have the expensive fleece so it's really thin and dense. that keeps the bulk down but it does breath some. I've never had it soak through the fleece, though depending on the size I'm using it does come off sometimes. From your list on hand I would say zorb or hemp. I'm not too familiar with zorb myself though. The ones in my photo's are surged b/c a friend has one. My others I cut the absobancy about 1/4" smaller all around and sewed it directly to the BV. I then sewed the bV to the fleece leaving that 1 1/2" hole (don't do it on the curve, but on the fairly straight part) and turned and topstitched it. Took a lot more time but it looks cleaner. I'm just glad a friend had a surger for my PP stash! You could make your design balloon out in front (like a contour dipe) to give you that extra you need. If you did it wide and tall I would think that would help immensely more. Also, have you looked into the sea sponge? I bought one and haven't used it yet (bought it while preg) so I'm not sure how it compares and if you'd have a hard time keeping it in. BTW, I have worn the undies without the pads and don't notice the snaps (though I don't make a habit of it, those a specifically for AF). I also don't notice the bulk of the snaps, even PP when I was really sensitive. ETA: I used to work at a sonic and HAD to come up with a solution to keep them in place with all that activity!

Adding the aftermarket snap seems like an awesome idea!
Btw, I just got my first Ultimate pad from Mother moon Pads and I think it would work great for you! I could even wear it with regular clothes without it really being obvious. It flares out on both ends nicely. |
