What's the narrowest INSERT for pockets?

EDIT: I really like the knickernappies size medium pocket diaper that I have, but... it has no insert, so I'm not 100% sure I'll still love it once it's stuffed.
The knickernappies website says the insert dimensions are Small/Medium - 12"x5.5" Medium/Large - 16"x5.5" But that's bigger than the (used) BG insert I thought was too wide - it measured 14.5"x4.5" In fact, I don't even see how a 5.5" wide insert would fit in this diaper - or do they shrink a ton?

So what's a great narrow insert? And do I need to avoid Microfiber to stay trim, or what are your thoughts on that? Thanks!

ORIGINAL POST:
I'm trying to figure out which ones will fit best, but I can't spend a fortune researching. I already know the bumgenius & kawaii os are too wide in the crotch ~ I just can't get past it. Maybe Sunbaby size1 or others that I don't even know about yet? I just read an interesting thread on grovia - are those pretty narrow?

This is life-or-death for me in terms of cloth diapering or not. Please help. I had originally wanted pockets, but if that will always be super wide, I'd be open to AIO's, or maybe fitteds (though I'm still learning, and I'm not 100% sure what that means). I know I don't want the ones that are a cover w/ a loose cloth inside.

I'm so fascinated by this, and I really want to find that perfect fit. I need a sampler pack w/ one of each brand to look at side by side.

Generally sized diapers are going to have a narrower crotch than OS. Grovia has a narrow crotch as well. Others you might want to consider are Sized Swaddlebee Simplex and Thirsties AIOs.

Not sure how old your baby is, but as your baby gets old, crotch width becomes less of an annoyance.

Re: What's the narrowest diaper?

Fuzzibunz elites are very narrow in the crotch. Bear in mind that narrower=less surface area. Meaning less area to absorb urine. I found I had to change my LO ever 1.5 hours in FBE. Which is fine if you are willing to do that. But probably won't work for naps/overnights.

Re: What's the narrowest diaper?

Depending on how old your LO is, Alva Newborns are CRAZY NARROW - narrow enough I had to serge the included insert narrower for it to sit right in the pocket (oh, and cut a front pocket opening in the liner fleece. I am completely in love with how narrow they are As for size, my 10 pounder is still on the smallest setting, so LOTS of room to grow

Grovia AIOs are so narrow, there is barely enough coverage in the rear for my 10 lb 5-week-old.

Re: What's the narrowest diaper?

Thank you all, looks like I have my work cut out for me. But at least now I can start scouting these brands instead of blindly stumbling through. My boy is almost 5 mo. We did disposables w/ my daughter, never wanted to do cloth. Then I started researching cloth trainers for her for naps so that we could ditch pull-ups. One thing led to another, and now I want to try cloth for the little one. Thanks again!!
