Wetbags: zipper or velcro closure?
My mother-in-law has been having fun sewing with the new line of diaper fabric from Hobby Lobby/Joanns, and wants to make a wetbag for my diaper bag. I have always used walmart bags because I didn't have a real one, so do you all prefer zipper or velcro closure?
It seems like I see a lot of zipper closures for sale with the info "zipper doesn't work anymore", and I wondered if they don't last that long? I also didn't know if the zipper would bang around too much in the washer. Velcro sounds like it could be a pain sometimes though too. Thanks! |

Re: Wetbags: zipper or velcro closure?
I have recently seen ones with magnetic closures? The biggest problem that I have with zipper closures is that when I reopen them, it smells RIPE… I'd almost prefer to let the bag breathe just a little bit…

I've been rotating 2 planet wise zippered wet bags for 2 years with no issues. After seeing all the posts about flies getting in the diapers and ending up with maggots, I much prefer the zippered wet bag.

Zippers all the way! If you have to transport that bag, you want to keep the ick contained.

Zippers! and try to get the nice YKK zippers with the big pulls on 'em. Monkey Foot Designs uses 'em and they never fail!

Re: Wetbags: zipper or velcro closure?
Zipper! Maybe the wetbags w/broken zippers had cheap zippers. We've been cd'ing for over a year and my zippers have never broken. My oldest wetbag is made by me. I got the zipper from Joanns.

Also a zipper fan here. At home we use x large wet bags with zippers (but I always leave them open to breathe), and when we are out I use small wet bags in my diaper bag and am grateful for the zipper so it doesn't stink when I'm out and about. Drawstring is always an option too (just to make things more complicated

Re: Wetbags: zipper or velcro closure?
ZIPPER! I used one with velcro on vacation once and if the pul touches the abrasive side of the velcro, it sortof snags/catches/scratches the diaper.
![]() I vowed to never use velcro again on a wetbag and I always look for high quality zippers. I don't like drawstring wetbags either bc I prefer something that can literally get tossed around and still remain leakproof and smellproof. |

Zippers, definitely! You could also do a drawstring closure. I've had both, and like them equally.

Re: Wetbags: zipper or velcro closure?
Definitely zippered! And be sure to get a high quality zipper. I have a couple of small Alva webags and the zippers do not last very long. Just got a couple of very nice wetbags from Loving O.Z. and they are amazing!
