Did I ruin my pre-fold by drying on too high of heat?
Okay, so I'm rather new to cloth diapering. Only been doing it for 5 months. I thought I had read the washing instructions right for my pre-folds, but they've always been rougher than I'd like, and lately my daughter has been soaking through them really fast. She's 16 months old. I've been changing her more often, and her covers are still wet, too soaking, almost everytime I change her. And I've been drying the diapers on high heat this whole time. They used to be more absorbent when we first got them, and the quiltting has gotten flatter recently.
I guess what I really want to know is, can they be fixed, or am I going to have to buy new ones? Thanks! |

It shouldn't be the heat. High heat is really only a concern for elastic and aplix. What is your wash routine like?

Chances are she is just peeing more. The joy of prefolds is that they are virtually indestructible. Mine are washed on HOT, and when dryer-dried its on high heat.

Re: Did I ruin my pre-fold by drying on too high of heat?
Well, first I do a cold rinse cycle, then I wash them on a heavy cycle (14 min) with warm water, (I wash the covers at the same time, so don't want to use hot water), then I rinse them again. Maybe I'm using too much soap? I wash them with the medium water level, but put a large sized amount of soap in.

What size prefolds are you using? You might just need more absorbency.

I'm using the 15-30 lbs size, my daughter is 20 lbs.
