What is a Co-op?

Ok, a dumb question I know! I think it must be a group of people going in to buy bigger lots of diapers from the manufacturer - but since I'm totally new to this, I didn't want to assume.
Anything I know about diapers, I've learned here in the last few days. I can see how it can be addicting, and I haven't even received my first diaper yet!

not just diapers...it's a cooperative. You get a discount for buying items in larger quantities.

Like detergent, wipes, etc? What other types of things? And how do you know what's for sale?

A co-op is sort of like Costco. Buy in bulk, cheaper unit price. A co-op goes into an agreement with a vendor and they get a per unit price based on the volume. For example, if you place an order for 1,000 diapers, we will sell them to you at $4 a diaper. If you order 2,000, we will sell it to you at $3 a diaper. There are additional shipping fees, etc. involved and you are often at the mercy of the order being completed, shipped, etc. I think a co-op is great if you don't mind waiting on something. You also have to do some research on the exact product to see if it is a truly good deal or not.

you would join in a specific co-op. For example, here on DS we have them for everything from Alva and Sunbaby diapers to OPKs/HPTs to yarn to fingernail polish! When you meet the minimum requirements, you can apply to join the co-op section here on DS to see what we have!
