Re: Just how "many" is many?

I hope to have a large family one day if that is God's plan. I consider 4+ large, 2 average, and 3 above average lol. I feel out of place here, so I mainly lurk - but, I find so much inspiration in all of you MoM.

I think it depends on where you live...here in the SC/GA area many people have 3 or 4 and several at our church have 4+ kiddos. I would say on average though 4 or more is "many". We have number 4 on the way and we've started to get those responses from some around here but mostly family that don't live around here.

1 is great.
2 is ok.
3 is getting a little much.
4 is more than enough.
5 or more is aiming for Duggar status.

That has been my experience at least, with the general population. I would say 4 is many, but 6+ is what i consider large.

We'll probably only have 3, but I know my dh's extended family would cheer for more. His dad is one of 14, and the family sizes range from 3-10. Lol.

Re: Just how "many" is many?

Nowadays I think 4 or more is large. Right now we only have 2 (and one of which is on the way lol). I feel like I could be done (even though I originally thought I wanted many more children). DH thought he was done, but is already laying the groundwork for at least another lol.

DH is one of 15+ (his mom is wonderful and is constantly adopting. She feels it is her calling from God and she is honestly the most maternal person Ive ever met (short of Michelle Duggar!) Its not uncommon for us to visit over a holiday and get introduced to a new sibling he didnt know he had lol)

and I am one of 3 :-)

Re: Just how "many" is many?

people these days think that more than 2 is considered a "larger" family. I think that 6 or more is large family, and personally, I'd love to have as many as God is willing to give me.....

With that said, I have 4 kids. My husband said we are done. My heart says I could have a handful more! I really really want more kids, and it breaks my heart to know I'm being robbed of having more kids.

Re: Just how "many" is many?

When you have more children than there are hands to guide them that is many. So if mom is patting one on the back because he is choking on water, and holding one by the shirt collar so he can't run into traffic and dad has one on his hip because she can't walk yet while wiping the spaghetti off Jr's face and there is still one out there loose then that is many.

I agree with more than 4. We cannot fit in a regular car or SUV, and need to look for a minivan lol

Re: Just how "many" is many?

I have 4 and I feel like my family is small, mostly because I yearn for more. I usually think of 6+ as being a "larger" family, and once you get over 8, a LARGE family.

That being said, people have told me I have a "big" family. It always catches me off guard.
