Sinusitis... Bah!

I will name my first born after you if you give me your tried and true methods for beating a stuffed up nose during pregnancy. I have spent about every other evening breathing through my mouth like a moron. It makes sleeping really fun. I had the same issue with my daughter and recall sitting up at 3 am in tears because I just could not breath. My OB told me to take a Claritin D on the rare occasion that I am sitting up sobbing like a lunatic, but that makes me nervous and kind of a limit for me. So please, help me not have a nervous break down.

Get ready to name your baby nickel. Buy a vaporizer. You can get them at rite aid. And put 10 drops of grapefruit seed extract and some water, and breathe that for 20 minutes. Enjoy!

I have a fancy vaporizer I bought during the last pregnancy. It didn't do much, but I've not heard of the grapefruit sees extract. I'm going to try it! (and I'll keep you posted on the whole Nickel thing)

I will try that too! Thanks.

Here I sit at the break of dawn, on my couch in a huddle because my nose decided to close up at 5 am. It's just miserable.

I totally feel your pain. When I was 9 months, I felt like I was suffocating every time I laid down Try the TTO, and the other thing that helped was hot lemonade: hot water, juice of 1 lemon and honey to taste. Makes your nose run and will strip any gunk off the back of your throat. I hope you feel better soon, mama!!

Saline spray. Get the one that is in a metal bottle I forget the name. Spray it in your nose while taking a hot shower. The one in the metal is pressurized and makes a really fine mist so it goes up really far into your sinus and washes everything out.

Have you tried eating something with hot mustard (Chinese style) or wasabe? Cleans the nose right out!

Re: Sinusitis... Bah!

It may not be safe, but I recall falling asleep with a peppermint in my mouth... waking up awhile later with it all nasty against my cheek, I'd sit up and suck on it again and try to clear my sinuses up again. Didn't give long term results, but helped a little. Cough drop did the same thing - the menthol ones.
