Anyone have a vitamix?

Is it really worth the expense?

I've been pondering it for a while now but its such a big investment I need some feedback. I have a stand mixer, an immersion blender, and a old food processor. I'm thinking we are going to have to replace the food processor at some point in the near future, its really on its last legs. Will the vitamix be a good option with what I currently use, could it replace the food processor?

I'm mostly vegan and I've heard a lot of good things about the vitamix as a great tool for vegetarians.

thoughts?

Re: Anyone have a vitamix?

I wish. No way. It would be super useful and I know I'd probably use it every day, but it's definitely not in our budget right now. We do have a Ninja blender, which isn't as good, but can still do a lot of neat things and was still expensive to me but definitely a more affordable price. I use it mostly for smoothies and homemade peanut butter lately. It's not as good as the food processor we have for certain things (which we got for Christmas from my MIL a few years ago), but it's still very useful and does do a better or just as good of a job at some things.

I know some mamas on here do have a vitamix though and love it maybe one day I'll find one at a garage sale or something... or craigslist...

We have one. DH bought it shortly after we started dating and I thought it was the biggest waste of money. Until he used it EVERY DAY! And up until just a few months ago, we both still did! So 3.5 years of near daily use made it worth every penny! Only reason it doesn't get used much now is it's so loud that I might kill him if he made a smoothie before work (430am) like he used to lol

I have one. I do use it almost every day. DH jokes that I will be buried with it and my kitchen aid mixer

If you're not ready to take the $500 plunge (we weren't), the Ninja works VERY well. We use it every day (have for 4 months), and it's very effective. My hubby is ultra picky about any type of gadgetry/technology, and he is VERY pleased with it.

Thanks everyone... for those that love it, do you still find that you need a food processor?

I have a Vitamix and LOVE it!! It's awesome! My friend and I bought Ninjas a year ago, her crapped out a few weeks ago, mine smells like something is burning when in use.

I replaced mine with a vm and passed my soon to crap Ninja to her.

And smoothies are way, way smoother in the vm!

I don't use a food processor. I've never had one though.
