My lo a "tongue sucker"

Anyone have a babe that is/was a "tongue sucker?" A lactation consultant from the hospital told me this and we have been doing a couple interventions to help, but it hasn't broke my 3 week old yet. Ugh! It hurts to nurse and we have been using a nipple shield. I do not want to use the shield, but until my baby stops this "tongue sucking" I have to use it.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop him from doing this?

Does he have a tongue tie. It may need clipped to get to pain free nursing. Be aware of your supply as well. Untreated tt can sometimes lead to a drop in supply
