He then went and got one of my mom's underwear and two of her pads and demonstrated how to put on a pad. Just by looking at the pad (IT WAS HUGE) I told him it was too big so he took a scissor and cut it in half. LOL! He told me to go to the bathroom and do as he had demoed. So that's what I did for months.

One day my mom was going through my bag found half a pad and was furious. Right before she was about to hit me for being wasteful she screamed at me "didn't I tell you how to use these!" And I told her no that my step dad had. She didn't do or say anything and stormed off but soon after I noticed she started purchasing smaller pads for me.

I hope I do a better job with my DD but she is currently 23 months so I have plenty of time.
Oh wow, you poor thing. Sounds like your mom wasn't so nice.

My dh is being really cute about this. He's like "what do I do? Do I need to go to wal-mart?" lol. I told him not yet, I don't even know for sure! Your step dad sounds nice.

Yeah I didn't start having a relationship with my mom until I was in my 20s and even now I still have to assert boundaries or it can get abusive from her end real quick. Her and my step dad divorced right before he was to adopt me at 13 and I lost my protector. He is a good man and a good father to my brothers.

I remember my mom telling me about how in her day, you had to wear this belt-like thing and attach the pad to it. And that the pad was enormous and went all the way from high in front to high in back. I didn't realize she was just sharing her experience and thought one day I would have to use that thing. I was mortified LOL

Anyway, made her pee again. A little pink on the TP again.
LOL, I was fat & lazy and I started the month before my 14th birthday. And my mom started when she was like 9 or maybe 10... No idea why I developed late.

All this is reminding that I need to get my DD set up. She is eleven But started breasts at nine and hair since ten. I already have some girly cloth for her and want to take her our for a girls day and snow her where the cloth is when she needs it. To me it sounds like her period.most bladder infections present with microscopic hematuria which you can't see. If the blood was from a bladder infection it would probably need to be pretty bad for you too see the blood, and she would be in pain. when I get bladder infections my stomach hurts!

Re: Is my DD starting her period???

Mine was 11 too. My mom was out of town and my grandpa was watching me. I knew what it was and wasn't scared, but soo embarrassed. There wasn't a single woman around and my mom didn't have any supplies in the house- she'd been out of town for several weeks getting our new house ready for a move. I don't remember how heavy it was, I did stain my pants the first day. And because I was so embarrassed I didn't say anything to my grandpa (as an adult I know his reaction would have been priceless- he was so easily embarrassed and flustered, it would have been hilarious). So it was light enough to use only toilet paper that month. I also remember that the cramps and heavier bleeding didn't start until I was around 14 or 15. With her moods and signs does sound like she might be starting. Bad timing with school.

Sorry to hear that. He does sound like he was a good guy. My step dad didn't adopt me- I had a good dad he just wasn't around, not by his choice. I still talk to him and visit him (we live 400 miles away). My mom died 11 years ago and my step dad still calls me his daughter and my kids his grand kids. he didn't have any children of his own- I'm all he has.
