Is it safe to get s mammogram while bfing? Breast cancer runs in my family and I will be 30 next year. My doctor is recommending I start getting mammograms every year which I am totally down for. I would like to have the option of nursing DS as long as we want to but I will wean him after 1 year if I cnt get mammograms and bf. He's 9 months now.

Yep. The amount of radiation used for the xray won't hurt the baby.

(I've had LOTS of mammos & u/s on my boob since I have a crazy weird lump.)

They will have you nurse/pump before hand to get as empty as possible. Then, when they do it, you'll probably leak milk all over the place--I know I do. :/

Fortunately, my friend is the tech who does mine so she's nice & understanding. I just hold paper towels under the machine & use them to dry it up when she's done. She does have to wear gloves & a cape since its bodily fluids.

When you said gloves and cape I thought super hero (which I know is not what you mean at all!).

Some places won't do a mammogram on a lactating woman. Some Doctors won't order one and say you can only do ultrasound. Neither is true, so shop for your doctor carefully!
