Is my period back already!?

I am 8 weeks postpartum, and I started bleeding today! More than just spotting (which stopped about 2 weeks ago) but if it is a period it's very, very light. DS is nursing very often day and night. Is it even possible it's my period?

It is possible but it could still be left over from birth. I bled for 12 wks because I had pieces of placenta left over.

It is possible its your period, but its also fairly common to have another bit of bleeding after having stopped for about two weeks. Theres a name for it, but I can't remember. Your period can also be really irregular for the first few months it comes back. Is lo sleeping well at night? Mine started sleeping 5-6 hrs at around 5 weeks old and that was enough to get af to come back for me.

He sleeps well, but we co-sleep so he kind of nurses then falls back asleep. He nurses at LEAST twice in an 8 hour period at night.

After I had DS, I had postpartum bleeding for 4 straight weeks, then some more two weeks after that, then light bleeding a month later and again a couple weeks after that. Then I didn't have bleeding again until DS was almost 6 months old which was the start of my period coming back, though it came back all wonky at first, lasted only 3 days, didn't come back for 1.5 months, was really heavy, and continued to be irregular until DS was around 12 months. I'd say if you are only 8wks pp and bfing, it does not sound like a period and is likely just a little more pp bleeding.

With my first 3, I started having a pretty regular period around 6-8 weeks post-partum. I am a fanatic about ecological breastfeeding so there was no real reason for me to get my period back so early; it just happened. I was totally bummed out because I'd been looking forward to a year or more of no period.

but then with my 4th I didn't have a period until 9 months post partum. It was nice to have a break, finally!

I had the same with with dd...Big clots tho and ended up having to have the teeny tiny placenta removed at 8wks pp

I had a little spotting for about 3 days around 8 weeks. Then didn't first pp af when baby was 4-1/2 months (she slept through the night since about 6 weeks). So, if it's as heavy as a period and lasts the same as your normal periods do, then it's probly a period. If it's shorter or lighter, it's probably hormones leveling off.
btw, I took a pregnancy test at 9 weeks because I felt "Off" and it was positive. FREAKED. ME. OUT. But it was just wacky hormones. pregnancy hormones taking a little longer than normal to leave my body.

I always start back at 6-8 weeks, even with breastfeeding/cosleeping.

I had the same thing happen... I spotted lightly for a few weeks after my initial 6 week pp bleed. I then spotted at 6 mo pp, and 12 mo pp and then took herbs and homeopathics and night weaned in order to get a period back at 18 mo pp!
