Re: Glue vs. staple closure?!?
With my 1st I had staples which were painful and left a large purple keliod scar. With my 2nd section my dr. cut out the scar and used sutures which left a much smaller scar, she also did my 3rd section...With my 4th I had a new doc in a new area...I requested sutures v/s staples and he said no problem...Have never experienced glue though but wouldn't recommend staples...Good luck!!!

Re: Glue vs. staple closure?!?
I had steri strips both times. The second time I had purse strings that needed taken out (barely felt them when they took them out a week or so later). This is always my first request, but if I had to choose I would choose anything BUT staples.

Re: Glue vs. staple closure?!?
Thanks for all of the input! It's interesting to read everyones experiences. I'm still leaning more towards finding a Dr that will do the glue or another method besides staples.

Re: Glue vs. staple closure?!?
I had glue with my first c-cestion and then moved and had 2 more which were closed with staples. I asked my new OB why she used staples instead of glue and she told me that the scar tissue from my previous c-section would not heal together as easily as raw skin and the staples would hold it together better. They were removed before I left the hospital and it didn't bother me at all.

Re: Glue vs. staple closure?!?
Staples scare the piss out of me. My mother had staples when she had a hysterectomy when I was a teenager, one let go and she very nearly bled to death before they caught it, and she was still in the hospital. They'd never had it happen before, and from what I hear it's extraordinarily rare, but I told both the OB when I had my section and the GYN when I had my cystectomy that I was not comfortable with staples. Both were shocked when I explained why, so it really must be, but nearly losing my mother to them I just don't feel comfortable.

Saw a different OB within the same practice today and she said I could opt for a double suture closure instead of staples!! Yay!!!

Re: Glue vs. staple closure?!?
My first 2 were dissolving stitches, both times left a huge keloid. With #3, I had staples for 48 hours then steri-strips and glue before going home. My incision opened a bit at one side the night I went home, and took a couple weeks to heal.
Overall, I preferred the staples even though I opened, because I don't have the big scar that I had from stitches. I also think that more might have opened and scarred if I only had been glued.

I had staples wirh my first and glue with my second. I prefer glue. But it didnt hurt as bad as I thought it would to get the staples removed, though I prefer not to do it again if I have a choice.
Sent from my phone, excuse any typos.
