Pregnancy gingivitis
Hello, pregnancy gingivitis, so NOT nice to meet you during my 24th week!
I woke up on Saturday morning with my top gums all swollen and sensitive. Brushing with my usual brush caused bleeding along my 2 front teeth and it hurt to floss. I called my dentist so I could be seen ASAP and was told it was pregnancy gingivitis, caused by these lovely hormones. A deep cleaning followed, along with the suggestion to use a stronger mouth rinse versus the natural one I've been using, and I'm scheduled to see him again in another 4 months instead of 6. Ahhh, second pregnancy, how difficult you've been for me... Has anyone else had this? Did it ever go away or did you have to wait until you delivered your baby?

Re: Pregnancy gingivitis
What have you been doing in the meantime to help deal with it? I have a soft toothbrush but I don't feel clean afterwards.

Re: Pregnancy gingivitis
i get it every time
tea tree oil and baking soda work well for me I've also read that brushing with ground up rose petals can tighten gums and reduce inflammation but i haven't tried it myself

Re: Pregnancy gingivitis
I have experienced a complete remission of my mild to moderate gingivitis by changing my diet (no sodas or juices, no processed foods an no fried foods) and changing my oral care routine. Any rinse would burn my mouth and aggravate the condition. I found great relief using "natural dentist" natural mouth rinse and I switched to a natural toothpaste with no SLS (a proven irritant...all it does is create foam but it strips your delicate tissue of its protective layer). Hope you find relief soon mama!

Re: Pregnancy gingivitis
I've never heard of Peroxyl. I'll grab some today! Seems like every store carries it.
I've been using an electric toothbrush but this still occurred. It stinks. It's actually spread to the gums along another tooth (one of my canines) this morning. I've always been careful with my teeth too. It's funny, I was using a natural paste and mouthwash (which I didn't use with my first pregnancy) and this time it seems like natural is too weak for me? The dentist told me to switch to Crest/Colgate and Listerine.

my gums were really sensitive. I made a post like this and several people recommended the Peroxyl which is how I heard about it! It was a lifesaver. Yeah I got it at Target. I've had 2 pregnancies since that one and never gotten it again, in fact I'm 39 weeks with this one and my gums/teeth have had zero problems! So who knows. Just probably one of those weird things.

Re: Pregnancy gingivitis
^^ Totally a weird thing for me. My first pregnancy was smooth sailing but this one has been difficult. I still suffer from morning sickness every now and then.
