I agree with, "you're too old when you feel too old." I think it's different from person to person. I know plenty of people in their twenties who aren't ready. It's a personal thing.
I'm 27, and my older two are 3 & 4. There are plenty of kids in their age range at our church, and the parents' ages span early twenties - forties. I find the latter to be much friendlier, accepting, kind, and approachable. As long as parents are well meaning, loving, and caring, I don't think there is a perfect age across the board.

I'm Incredible.

Re: How old is too old to have a baby?

You're too old when YOU feel you are. I just turned 34 and am pregnant with my 3rd. DH will be 40 next year. I'm done personally. The thought of having another past 35 makes me feel really tired LOL! I'm ready to move on to the next stage of our lives, have possession of my body back and start new adventures with kids not babies. That said I know women having their 1st at my age and a good friend is 43 and trying to conceive their 2nd and they feel great and are ready for it. It's all about personal preference and comfort level. If you are up for it then do it.

I don't think there's an age limit. Its completely individual. As long as there's no huge health issues and you feel good enough to have a newbie then id say go for it. That beig said my cut off was 30. I'm 5 years ahead about to have our third and I'm done. But again that's a personal choice. I know many parents older than me who are jut having their first and they are fine.

As long as you don't feel too old you aren't too old!

Re: How old is too old to have a baby?

my mom had me when she was 39. i was "unexpected" but she was just fine. I had my lo at 34, i'm 36 now and if I decided I wanted another one I'd feel comfortable with it, age wise. A good friend of mine is 39 and due with her second in a couple of months--and she was high risk with her first pregnancy at 37 because she has had multiple heart and abdominal surgeries. IN fact, the doctors told her she could NEVER have kids, and here she is about to have her second. So there you go.

Too old is after menopause, hahaha.

Never to old IMO. Traditional ways or non traditional.

For me personally 35 is my cutoff but I have 7 children and will be raising kids for over 18 years at that point. I am 33 now and would love one more.

For me, 35 is *my* cutoff. Obviously if I got pregnant afterward I would still keep it, but I will not plan a pregnancy after 35.

Re: How old is too old to have a baby?

My friend had her first DS on her 40th b-day and her second just past her 43rd. They are all healthy.

I think that one is "too old" when they enter menopause.

Re: How old is too old to have a baby?

I think as long as you're reasonably healthy and can get pregnant (or adopt), then you're not too old

Life expectancy is so long these days. Even if you have a baby in your 40's, as long as you proactively take care of your health, the chances of you being able to see and enjoy your grandbabies is good. My aunt had two babies in her early 40's. She was run down, but around 48 decided to eat healthier and get in good shape. She's healthier and more active than most parents in their 20's, and she's now 52
