Re: Cloth diapers suck...

Welcome Mama

Everyone told me I would quit after a week... 4 months in (CDing from day 1) and we are going strong. As for laundry... if you can work a washer and dryer then you can wash diapers! I don't even have a conventional W/D and I manage My Wash Routine So if I can manage that, I'm sure anyone can manage with a normal washer and dryer.

Re: Cloth diapers suck...

Wow mama, I'm impressed. I used to have a portable washing machine when I lived in a rental that had no washer/dryer hookup and was about an hour away from the nearest laundromat. The thing was awful (leaked everywhere, never really seemed to get anything clean, was noisy and shook all over the place). I've never seen a washer like the one you use, but I'd imagine it works much better than what I had. Props for the dedication!

Re: Cloth diapers suck...

Cloth has changed so much even in the last 5 years! I CD'd my first 3 in prefolds, snappis and covers. Then came a 5 year gap and DS reacted to our cloth. I hunted for some new fluff... and ended up with too much cute stuff! LOL!

Seriously, the laundry is so easy, and we even line dry most of the time. Nothing like the sun to keep your diapers white! I recently found out that there are places that rent and have trials for cloth diapers, so you can test different things. Wow! I didn't even know this was an option... pretty cool

Re: Cloth diapers suck...

Oh, and the first 3 we did use disposables overnight, but I have not yet and don't want to this time. There are so many good options, and the guilt over sending sposies to the landfills is too much! LOL! Also, since new DS has been born we switched our bedwetter over to cloth, too. About 2 months so far, and it's good. I didn't like sending the pull-ups to the landfills, either. So, find what people suggest for overnight and try it. You might find a good cloth solution for you. If not, hey, at least you're sending far fewer to the landfill, right?
