Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
$100 copay for complicated but planned c-section birth. I don't know the billed amount through.
My son's transfer to another hospital cost us $493 discounted cost. 7 week NICU stay nothing out of pocket but the hospital bill was over $50,000 and that included two surgeries and multiple inpatient tests; genetics, MRI, blood, heart and the list goes on .... We were cover by one comprehensive private policy through ex's work. |

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
Zero. We have excellent insurance coverage and my midwife's office bills as a global service so our insurance paid for everything. This was for my last two births though, with my first I had different insurance and think I paid around $1,200 or so and with my second I might have had to pay some small co-pays but that was it.

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
unsure of how much my first was... DH was military and it was covered 100%
second was $3500 but covered by medicaid third was $3500, and insurance paid a portion of that, they paid maybe $1200? fourth will be $3500, insurance will pay just $500 - if even that.

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
My HB was paid for DD2 at 1350.00 the day before i ended up having an emergency Csect that cost over 37,000 for me (surgery and stay) and 40,000 for the "infant recessitation" that faild and she died.
ETA: out of pocket was about 9,000 (did not include cremation and funeral costs) just the failed birth/Csect Last edited by lil'mommakaye; 08-28-2012 at 02:29 PM. |

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
$25 for my first visit. All of the rest was fully covered. Admittance to the hospital (stay about 12 hours) at 18 weeks, emergency c section at 35 weeks, 4 night stay.

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
About $2,000 all inclusive. Our insurance has changed and my next birth will cost between $6,000 - $8,000 out of pocket. I am not for ObamaCare, but seriously, I work for a huge corporation, something has got to change. It shouldn't cost this much to have a baby.

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
I only had to pay $60 co-pay for all 5 of my c-section births. Now, since the company my dh works for go bought out by one of the largest companies in the world and our insurance changed. For a c-section delivery, we would have to pay $6k deductible and then 20% for another $4k, which would mean $10K for one of my cs delivery. So my dh went and got a v, unfortunately. It wasn't the only reason but he quickly did it before we could really think about it because he wanted to get the v done before our insurance changed and he would have to pay the $2k to get it done.

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
Dd1 - about $300 for a csection (we had great insurance then)
Dd2 - a little over $2000 (we thought we had horrible insurance at the time. Little did we know...) for a vbac Ds - just under $7000 for a vbac One of the reasons we're done with kids is we can't afford the hosp bill to have another. There are other reasons as well but our insurance sucks... |

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
Prenatal care: free
My part of the hospital bill: $1500(deductible for dd and me) Prenatal care was $1800 and insurance paid that, the hospital bill for us both was around $4-5k. I had an uncomplicated cytotec induction and the only meds I received were PCN and some pitocin for mild postpartum bleeding. My first two were free because I was on Medicaid, my third cost around $1500 OOP with BCBS.

Military: free
hoping for a vbac now, not sure if there will be fees associated with that since it'll have to be offbase
