Diaper Swappers

I have recently discovered EC and want to try it with my 9 month old daughter. I have a small potty that was used for her older brother and was thinking about starting with her using that. Other than just trying to get her to go after she wakes up and every half hour or so what should I do? I have been doing some research but I'm usually a hands on kind of person and I know no one that does it. Please help!

Today my daughter woke up from her afternoon nap dry. I fed her and she was still dry so took her to the bathroom and she went! My DH was here so he got to witness too (: Hopefully this is the beginning of successful EC'ing...

Just get her to sit on it for as long as possible and see what happens!!!

I got her to sit on it three times now and for probably a good 5 minutes each but so far nothing. I don't know how to associate it with going pee since she has always gone in her diaper and I can never tell when she goes since she doesn't seem to care if she is wet or poopy!

You might have to work on her bodily awareness then... either coverless or naked time... tell her "you peed!" As soon as she does, see if you can learn her patterns/cues a little. Then you can explain about how pee goes in the potty and try to get her to sit on it when she is about to go.

As a start, 5 minutes of happily sitting on the potty is great!

It may take awhile to get catches when starting with a 9 month old so just be patient. Good luck!
