Could use some prayers

We don't get to go home this morning like I thought. I had a weird antibody issue throughout my pregnancy that luckily didn't cause any complications during the pregnancy, but has caused Cate to have jaundice bad enough to need light therapy. Hopefully she will respond well and be able to go home tonight, but if she doesn't respond, we'll have to stay a few more days. I'm very bummed and really missing my older kids (and my own bed!).

Hoping she responds well and you can head home soon. Maybe ask if there is an at home unit. I know when my youngest bro was born (hes only 15) he had jaundice and was sent home after the 2 days or so but a med. equip. company brought a portable billy light unit to the house for a week or so, it had a tube and was like a heating pad type thing that he had to wear under his shirt for so many hours a day. It was all covered by insurance because it was cheaper than a hospital stay too. GL

Yes, we're doing that when we do get to go home. They want to keep her a little longer here to make sure her levels stabilize and don't shoot up higher, in which case she would need the high powered hospital lights. I'm not too worried about it. I just really want to get her home and get settled! I'm just relieved that if something did have to go wrong, it was something that isn't too serious and is easily treated.

We're doing light therapy at home now, so hopefully it's working! The daily blood draws break my heart though. I never realized how horrible it is to get a newborn's blood.
