for those that soak

Here's my wash routine:
rinse/spin in cold
soak in warm
wash in hot with Tide with extra rinse
express wash in warm with no soap (would just rinse/spin but cold is the only option if I use that setting)

The first wash of the week gets OxiClean in the soak plus a longer soak time. But the rest of the washes I just soak for 30-40 minutes on warm.

Should I add something to the soak each time? What do you do?

Re: for those that soak

I used to soaked before machine and rung out then washed on hot cold heavy soil, and cotton or normal wash, and high spin (front load). no extra rinses and was fine. i stopped cuz messy and my disability makes it really hard to lift and move the pail kinda anything heavier than 20 lbs unless like kids that help cling on..... I put soap in the soak then hot cold and no soap just to make sure all the soap was out, maybe a bit of oxiclean (once for stain of pen or something and that helped lots). I have soft water and soaking in detergent/soap made lots of bubbles- that is why 2 rinses.

Re: for those that soak

Here is my routine that works for me with a soak. I have a non HE top loader.

Warm wash/cold rinse with 2 squirts around of bacout and 3 TBS Arm & Hammer Sensitive powder

Hot Presoak (30 min)/cold rinse with 3 TBS Arm & Hammer Sensitive powder

2 Hot wash/cold rinse with nothing

Hot wash/cold rinse with 1/2 capful of 7th generation fabric softener

My washer doesnt let enough cold water in to rinse correctly and only does cold rinses, so thats why I do full cycles. The amount of detergent is perfect right now to keep ammonia and stinkies away. Sometimes I add 1/4 cup of bleach instead of the bacout, but only when the water hardness changes and I have to figure out the detergent amount again that works.
