Toddler girl pee shooting straight out?

Ok this is the weirdest thing, but when dd goes pee, her pee shoots horizontally, not down, and gets all over the floor instead of in the potty. Dh thinks something is wrong with her and always asks how my pee comes out and I really don't pay any attention, but my pee makes it to the toilet lol. Does this seem normal?

My 1yr old sometimes does that.
I just try to put her butt a little lower in the toilette.

I don't have any girls, so just a guess, but maybe she is pushing it out and it's the force that's changing the direction ?? DS1s goes totally crooked cuz he pushes it out.

My DD does this. She has labial adhesions and it makes it spray everywhere!

Just a thought!

Re: Toddler girl pee shooting straight out?

She could have labial adhesions. If she does, they will likely just work themselves out. In the meantime, I'd just try to teach her to compensate so it actually goes in the toilet. Like have her lean, or stick her butt lower, or whatever helps. If you have her looked at and she does have adhesions do NOT let the doctor rip them apart! Some doctors think this is necessary and just do it without even telling the parents what they are doing. No pain relief or anything.

Re: Toddler girl pee shooting straight out?

Most likely it just has to do with the way she is sitting combined with forcing it out as fast as possible. The toliet seat is pretty big and the toddler bottom is pretty small and it's easy to get "out of position."

My friends DD had this problem. Have her lean forward when she pees.

One thing she shouldn't do is close her legs while she pees. Her ped said it causes some of the urine to stay around the vagina.

Re: Toddler girl pee shooting straight out?

DD does this all.the.time ever since she pl'd. She is 3 1/2. We have to remind her to scoot back on the potty and lean forward and it helps. If she forgets to lean forward she usually gets pee all over her underwear. Sometimes, it is also the shape of the toilet that makes it worse or not. DD has major problems with seats that are more oval shaped as it is harder for her to scoot back. I would see if just reminding her to lean over helps.

Re: Toddler girl pee shooting straight out?

I've never heard of labial adhesions. What are they? I'm afraid to google it! She pees in her potty seat, or with the potty seat on the big toilet, so never on the actual toilet seat unless we are in a public restroom. I will teach her how to lean. Hmm...I want to be sure she does not have these labial adhesions. Thx for all the responses!

I have an abnormality of my urethral opening and it makes my stream more forceful. If I'm not careful I can make more of a mess than my boys do.
