Basically it's the weekend

We are a group of parents that chat and support each other.
We have been at this for a while so some of us are out of the diapering stage.
...some were out and are back in again.
Every once in a while we actually get to answer a diaper question or two in here.
If you are looking for a very diverse and open group come on over and chat.

Thanks Mel. Shannon and I decided that using my electric shaver would be the safest method for now. I helped her with it. I'l get her own eventually but for now I'll let her use mine.

She really was ready for it. I was surprised by the amount of hair she had. We got it done and I've told her to tell me when she thinks it needs doing again. I just dont want her hacking away at hair on her body unsupervised for now. She is still very young and could get all sorts of silly ideas when it comes to using the electric shaver.

Shannon hasn't got her periods yet but I imagine it wont be long now. She's growing boobs already and has hair too. So it will happen fairly soon. I got her a little cosmetic bag for her school bag. Big enough for wipes, a change of underwear and some pads. It's not going to be easy but she'll have to cope. I know I messed it up several times and had to go to the school nurse for supplies.

Hopefully Shannon wont suffer like I did when I first got my periods.

I was in a lot of pain and was finally put on the pill when I was 12 to help with it. It did help a bit but not totally. Shannon cant take the pill because of the hole in her heart...I'm not sure why but her heart specialist told me that when he found the hole. So for now I just have to hope for the best.

We were talking today and thought we'd give Shannon somehting for her 11th birthday that you can only get when you're 11....well it will be a limit set here. She'll be allowed to stay up 1 hour longer than now. So her younger siblings will have their regular bed time at 7:30pm and she'll go to bed at 8:30pm.

I told her that if shomething happens and the others stay up later for some reason it doesn't mean she gets to stay up an hour longer. Just that it may happen. Doesn't mean she adds an hour every time.

I think she's quite excited about being older now.

Re: Basically it's the weekend

Hola mamacitas! We had the church pageant rehearsal this morning. And Ginger puked on the stage. I am really hoping it is something she ate yesterday (or her meds) and not something else. She doesn't have any other symptoms and is feeling/acting normal, so there's a pretty good chance that might be the case.

Ahh, Janine we are going through the same thing here with Rosie. Yesterday she told me she is old enough to pick out her own clothes (as in purchasing them, not getting dressed, she already does that) now. I told her we could negotiate something out. The problem is I have gotten clothing shopping for all three of them affordably to a science, and there is no way she could do it with me every time I go because she's involved in so much stuff. I don't doubt she could do it well with me (she bought a Xmas dress and five sweaters for $10 last time she went with me) it is just a matter of logistically having her there when the opportunity is there.

We have her stay up 30 minutes later. And she asked if she could stay up an hour later on her bday.

And then the shaving thing. She asked about it in September, and I told her we would do the depilatory cream the first time and then she could use an electric razor after that. Then it took me like three weeks to find the cream, which I guess is way out of popularity now but like you said the first shave with a electric razor is so tedious. By the time I found the cream she had forgotten all about it. So I have it tucked away for when it comes up again.

Rosie has a case with a few pads and a change of undies too. I didn't think about wipes. Indian girls generally start periods at an average age of 10, so we already had that discussion and gathering session. I had incredibly painful periods too that BC didn't change at all, and I wound up tearing up my stomach with high doses of NSAIDs. The only thing that worked was the Depo shot which took the periods away completely. I am really hoping above all hope that doesn't pass to her.

I quit shaving and told Jerry I will encourage MH to never start. There is no "need" for it.

First period is well off here but its talked about and planned for all the time because it is such a big deal culture wise.

Having a goood day preping for dinner tomorrow.

Haven't reached shaving age here and it hasn't been asked about. Maya just turned 10 and we've had a basic conversation about what she can expect over the next couple of years. It's bittersweet watching my baby girl grow up.
