Unhappy Weird rash?

Every time dd poops, she gets a bright red rash where ever the poop touches her skin. Sometimes it take a couple of days to go away, and it seems to cause her discomfort . She is always change promptly, and if we are home, she gets a bath after she poops. I put lanolin on the rash, but it doesn't seem to help. I tried to take a pic, but cannot get her to hold still. Any idea what it could be or how to get it to go away?

Re: Weird rash?

This happens to my dd also. I think she's just very sensitive to her poops. It's much worse if she eats fruit.

Re: Weird rash?

DD is EBF, she has never even had a bottle before. Could it be something in my diet that would cause this?

Re: Weird rash?

My girls get this as well. They are not BF but they are eating some fruit (Apples, pears, bananas). I always am checking to see if they've pooped but they have sneaky little secret poops. They also poop in the night. Dh and I have tried to catch it but never seem too. We always change them right away in the morning. It looks terrible and will even bleed.

Re: Weird rash?

i would examine your diet for allergens. dd (ebf) has a horrible time when i eat any amount of chocolate! it really really sucks (for me, i really want chocolate!)
it also sounds like what my ds gets when he eats any of the foods he's allergic to. i hope you can find an answer! also, if there are any spots radiating out from the redness it is most likely yeast.

Re: Weird rash?

Melinda I'm glad your girls experience this too. I've taken to putting dd on the potty in the mornings to get her big poop done with and then try to keep up with the smaller ones throughout the day...but usually she ends up with a little contact rash if the poop "traveled" throughout the dipe. I feel so bad for her! The end of diaper days will be good news for her bum.

Re: Weird rash?

My dd's would occasionally get an "acid burn" from citrus I'd eaten or even worse from tacos, I had to stop eating those for years at a time, lol. Airing the rash is the only thing that really helped for us. I'm sorry, I know it's awful.
