Question Explaining To my daughter...

Well recently we have seen a lot of movies with natural birth, home birth, and water birth with nursing immediately following. DD has seen this with me and she kind of understands babies are being born but she doesn't get why mommy has milk. She thinks it comes from the store and doesn't understand why mommy has milk in her boobies.

How am I going to help her understand this so she isn't so protective over me when I nurse this little one?

Maybe read a book about how animals nurse from their mommies? Like Cows or Dogs. Take her to a farm or a vet and show her. Then in the privacy of your home, show her where the milk comes from and tell her it is just for babies.

My almost 3 year old knows milk comes from my boobs and that the baby (when he is born in November) will drink the milk.

Re: Explaining To my daughter...

I think its a concept they have a hard time getting until they actually see it! Kryllen (6) always says how I will feed their little sister from my "boobies" (really wish I knew who taught him that word), and Drayton (4) just agrees with him but doesn't seem to actually understand it, he never would have seen anyone nursing a baby but once she's here Im sure he'll just get it that since they are big boys they drink out of a cup but the baby needs mommys breast to drink.
