Re: Cloth diapering and foster care? To do it or not to do it?

Yes, I cloth diapered foster children with no problems. I always sent to visits with disposables, like others said.

gah! today we were out and about before dfs's visit and i forgot to bring a sposie to change him into! i usually keep a sposie in the diaper bag just in case but i didn't have any. i had to rush home before dropping him off at the visit and i was so afraid we were going to be late but the visitation office is literally like 3 minutes from my house.

I cloth diapered. I learned to use disposables for visits and court days, just in case DHR took the baby straight to the new place. All the social workers were impressed that we used cloth, and more than one asked for a demo!

Thanks everyone! I'm keeping my cloth and still going to have some disposables on hand for visits, etc.

Re: Cloth diapering and foster care? To do it or not to do it?

We have just finished all of our work for certification and I have been buying cloth like CRAZY to diaper them. We will have two or three placements under the age of two. One, I want to CD for the long-term cost benefit. Two, I am not a fan of the environmental effects of CD. Three, I don't like those chemicals against their skin.

I will be buying sposies for visits, to preserve my stash (and also not to trip out the BP).

Our social worker, who is also a FP, was really impressed with my plan to CD and wishes she would have thought of it with hers.

So nice to hear of Foster Families out there! I was feeling so alone! And that you think CDing is the way to go! It's not like we are getting some enormous check for caring for these babies. Seems like mine is just a wash every month! I don't care though. It's not money for me... I love the babies!! And cloth diapers are just another great way to invest in them!

So... Daycare said no to cloth diapering my foster baby. I'm so sad. They said it went against their sanitation procedures. anyone else have any issues with this.

I would look up your states guidelines on diapering and daycare and fact check your daycare. Also, show them how sanitary it is, how to use them etc. And do they flush poop? Because if they don't they aren't following guidelines haha.

Yeah I think its pretty.common for them to refuse. If dfc is very rashy with sensitive skin and the CDs help you might be able to get a dr to write a letter. Ive heard of people doing that.
