Need advice on finding a babysitter

I am going back to work very soon and am looking for a babysitter. I am looking for someone who would come to my home to watch my daughter. I found one that I am meeting with today, and when I asked her how much she charges, she said 10 a day! I thought this was a little strange, the average here is 25 a day. What do you guys think? Also, what questions do you always ask?

Definitely call all references. Some people charge way less to be competitive. I would probably offer her 15-20/day if you decide to hire her. That was it's still less than the "going" rate, but a more fair rate for her.

My requirements are that someone be CPR/First Aid certified, be able to transport my child in case of emergency (so I wouldn't hire someone under 16) and someone my kids like right from the start.

I would check references and run a background check. If they are willing to work for so cheap then something sounds off.
