My Mood:
Should I go to the ER?

I have felt like yuck the last week or so. Extreme breast tenderness, achy, bleeding picking up, but no fever. My boys both have nasty colds/diarrhea (of course we bring home a new baby to a house full of sick kids!). Today I feel like major yuck. All the previous pains, but now I have diarrhea, a cough, a headache, and a fever of 102. I don't know if it's because I caught my boys' cold, or if I have a more serious infection going on. I really do not want to go to the ER. I had late hemorrhages with 2 of my babies already and I remember how excruciating all the poking and prodding was of them trying to see if I had retained placenta (I didn't). So, should I go to the ER knowing what they'll do and how darn expensive it will be, or should I wait it out until Monday? DH will be unavailable all day tomorrow, so I need to decide quick!

I would go, even though I also hate going to the ER because of the time and expense involved. Hospitals can be such dirty places when it comes to contracting infections, and I would want to chance that you picked something up during delivery.

Did you call your OB/MW? I would do that to see what they say but I am leaning toward going in. I'm pretty certain the fever will make them tell you to go in..

Well, now the fever is down to 100.4. I am so torn. I don't want to go in if it's just that I caught my boys' cold. Why does stuff like this always happen on the weekend when nobody's in the office?!

I didn't end up calling or going in. The fever is gone, and I feel much better today. I think I'm overdoing it. Friday night DH and I led our couples group at church, and I think it was overload for my body. I'm going to take it EASY this week and make sure the fever doesn't come back.
