Velcro/hook & loop/aplix are great for getting the perfect fit BUT

Snaps are great they dont get stuck on other diapers and ruin them! & they tend to last longer, and typically u can still get a good fit!!!

Aplix is easier to get a custom fit, but do curl and get less 'sticky' overtime. Houdini babies like mine also learn to take them off : ) Snaps just seem to last longer, and have a better resale value because of it.

Aplix pros- great for squirmy babies, super duper fit, quick, easy
Cons- wears out quicker, some babies can escape

Snaps pros- no escaping, last longer (generally)
Snaps cons- other caregivers may be intimidated

That's all I can think of right now, but that being said- I like a mixed stash for different occasions

Re: Velco or Snaps?

We prefer aplix (or hook n loop, or velcro, or whatever). They go on and off very quickly and it's really easy to get the perfect fit. Some snap diapers are hard to get a good fit on my skinny minnies and I don't like fiddling with them. They take longer to go on. The snap ones do look nice for longer, and I have heard they last much longer, which I think in general is true, but I have had a couple snaps fall apart or rip away from the PUL.

Re: Velco or Snaps?

I prefer snaps because I like the look and that they hold up better over time, but I do like a few hook and loop/velcro thrown in the mix for lazy days and for other people to use. I have some flip with velcro and I like them. They are doing well too because I usually wash with normal clothes if not poopy and always hang to dry.

The men in my life just want me to be consistent. So when LO started getting his diaper off even when he had pants on, it was time for snaps.

I like and use both.

Velcro:
pros: I thing I can get a better fit all around
Cons: it wears out and has to be replaced and gets stuck to everything in the washer

Snaps:
Pros: I think they look better than a giant strip of velcro across the front, last longer
Cons: on some brands I either have to either a little too tight or too lose bc of snap placement.

I like both, but my preference varies by brand.

H&L Pro: Easier to adjust the fit, quick changes for my squirmy baby.
H&L Con: I hate messing with the laundry tabs. I always seem to miss one and get a snag on something.
Snap Pro: I like the cleaner look and no extra fuss for laundry.
Snap Con: Not so quick sometimes with a squirmy baby.
