I don't really prohibit anything beyond stuff that is beyond DS's age. I hate Caillou, but he likes it, and I don't think watching it is going to harm him in any way. I'm even more lenient when it comes to movies. One of DS's favorite movies is Labyrinth.

Re: I wanna know- What DON'T you let your kids watch????

Erm, a lot. Granted,we got rid of cable, so this makes it rather easy. Honestly, we are really picky. We do allow some really random stuff though (like, our favorite video game is PS2 Lego Star wars

We don't have cable so at home we just watch movies/ shows we have or rent. At my parent I try to avoid the shows I find particularly annoying but don't really limit them. Unless it scary I dont think a show here and there will harm them. The only thing that is banned, and they will tell people they are not allowed to watch it, is spongebob

DD is pretty young, and doesn't really watch much tv. She won't sit through a show.

But I'm wondering-- why all the Spongebob hate? I haven't seen the show in years, and never liked it. Like many of you, I wouldn't let DD watch it. From what I remember, it's really sarcastic and kind of crass. But I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing. Everyone seems to agree on this one, which I gotta say, is a little weird for DS.

I can't wait to introduce DS to the Labyrinth. It's so awesome!

I'm in the "No Spongebob" camp....I find it obnoxious with no real redeeming qualities that my 4 and 2yo kids could take away from it. Actually, we don't watch any Nickelodeon really, but that's also partly because I despise the commercials they run. We pretty much stick to Disney/Pixar movies and Team Umizoomi.

My kids have always loved Labyrinth because it is my favorite movie. I swear the music soothed Kearnan from birth because I watched it so often while I was pregnant. They also love The Never Ending Story and all of the Star Wars movies. I just don't think there is anything wrong with them.
