Other than that, we're big Nick Jr. fans. We have the Nick Jr. channel and I like that they don't have commercials, and the stuff in between shows is educational (things like singing with sign language, finding shapes or letters, getting up to exercise, etc.). DS loves The Fresh Beat Band. He also likes Dino Dan (which I find super annoying, but it's not a bad show), and will occasionally request Blue's Clues.
Just flipped it over to nickjr and dino dan is one. At only 2 min in, this is definitely not a contender. Pretty dumb (and annoying like you said.)

Re: Suggestions for kid friendly shows/movies?

Do you have Netflix? Some of the shows that DS likes is on there (like Super Why and The Fresh Beat Band). It would be easy for you to preview some of the shows that way.

Yeah, but kids pick up on sooo much.

Yeah, I hate that my son loves it, but he got really interested in dinosaurs by watching it. He even knows the difference between a bunch of dinosaurs and will point them out to me. I'm surprised he likes it, it seems geared toward older kids, but oh well. I just can't stand Dan!

Check out Super Why, though.

I don't. And tv time would be very occasional anyway so I wouldn't get it for that reason. I would be open to buying a few cheap dvds though.

http://www.sproutonline.com/shows/super-why

Here's a link to Super Why, there's some short videos you can preview. It's a very interactive show, which I like (I don't like mind numbing shows, I like when DS is learning and participating... he only turned 2 in July, but he will say the letters with them and stuff).

And here's a link to the Nick Jr. shows, you can select the shows and see some videos of them as well:

Great. Thanks Mama.

Any networks besides nickjr that you recommend?

Sprout has a few good shows. I know some moms on here also like Disney Jr., but I haven't personally watched any of them so I can't say.

Re: Suggestions for kid friendly shows/movies?

Costco has in stock right now tv shows from Disney from when we were kids. They have Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers and Tailspin, which were pretty harmless. The writing then was less geared towards dumbing down and they are only $10 per season/box set.

These are all on Netflix. They're the only shows my kids watch. I love shaun the sheep because there's no words!
