Re: What age did your child give up naps?

My first stopped taking naps at age 2. My second, who is now 3, still takes naps sometimes, but not every day.

None of the answers fit us, because they were both probably around 2 & a half. So I just choose 1-2. They stopped on their own. We do have quiet time though, so that the baby gets his big nap in. The 4yo has nap time at pre-K, but usually doesn't sleep. In our case, they don't need them. If they do happen to nap, it's awful getting them to bed at night because they won't be tired for hours.

Dd1 was 22mos BUT she still needed quiet time. She was a total wreck with out it and there was no way I was going to purposely do that to either of us! Dd2(5) still takes naps about half the time(the other half she reads/plays quietly in bed while dd1-7-does the same in her bed).

Re: What age did your child give up naps?

Both kids stopped around 2ish, then DD restarted napping at 3.5 or so and now naps about 2-3 times a week. It's impossible to schedule/plan. If we're home and she's tired, she naps, but I don't refrain from making afternoon plans on the off-chance she'll sleep.

DD1 gave it up by flat out refusing to sleep around 2.5. DD1 is still going strong at 20 months.

Re: What age did your child give up naps?

My oldest stopped napping around the time he turned 4. My middle still naps about 60% of days, and she will be 5 in December. I'm thinking though that my youngest will beat them both because she is turning 3 in October and sleeps 10 hours at night and naps for 3-4 hours. That's not typical though--her therapist said since her brain has to work around the damaged section she tires out quicker than most.

DD is 4.5 & recently gave up her nap though if I time car or stroller (we live in an urban area so she still rides in the stroller often) rides right she'll fall asleep at her old nap time.

Re: What age did your child give up naps?

I didn't vote.

I tried to get DD off the nap over the summer b/c she would start Kinder in Aug. I got her down to napping only about 4-5x/wk, but didn't get her off of it.

School did though. She goes to AM Kinder and then the afterschool program. Her ASP has no nap/quiet time, so she stays up until we pick her up at 4. We take her home, feed her dinner, and she's out for the night by 5:30 (usually by 5:00).

On the weekends, we can usually keep her up, but not always. She freq ends up taking a nap Sun afternoon! She's 5y1w now. She was 4y11m when she started Kinder.

DS is 3 and still takes naps daily: 2hr 15min every day.

School-led in kindergarten. They sleep 9-6, so a nap is helpful. But they don't get them in kindy. They're doing fine without them and don't get them on the weekends anymore, either.
